Timur Rakhimov: in 2023 the share of domestic IT products in the total volume of purchases of software for the fuel and energy complex was 80%

Studies of the pace of digitalization of various sectors of the Russian industry show that energy companies are most actively implementing digital solutions (31.5% of the total). This brings the fuel and energy complex to the first place in the ranking. If we segment the types of integrated end-to-end digital technologies, then the most in demand in the energy sector is the Internet of Things (IoT) – as many as 53% of companies use IoT technologies in their work, and this is the best indicator on the market. On the 2nd place in popularity – artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and production systems built on their basis – 43% of companies use them. Next in the list of end-to-end technologies are robotics and sensors (27% of energy companies turn to them), digital twins (23%), as well as virtual and augmented reality technologies (23%).
There are three main vectors of development that guide strategy for digitalization in the energy sector in the near future (until 2025).
The transformation of the current operating model of enterprises is aimed at obtaining a quick economic effect from the introduction of digital solutions. This area includes reducing costs by restructuring internal processes (robotics, improving IT infrastructure, simplifying standard actions – personnel and equipment management, connecting new customers, etc.), as well as the organization of a new system of communication with customers (digitalization of user interfaces).
The second vector of development is related to mastering advanced analytics tools and training employees to work with them. For example, the commissioning of smart meters and other IoT devices that work with big data should be preceded by special staff training aimed at developing skills in big data analysis.
in the field of digital solutions, as well as the continuous improvement of partnerships with companies in the field of IT, telecom and e-com. Finding common interesting business ideas with their partners, it is important for power engineers to quickly launch pilot projects to test their effectiveness. Positive cases will allow expanding the portfolio of services offered and entering new markets.
Maintaining the policy of import substitution remains an important trend in the context of the digitalization of the energy sector. According to research, in 2023 the share of domestic IT products in the total volume of software purchases for energy companies was 80%, which is 20% higher than in 2020. If now the total costs of power engineers for the installation and operation of Russian software are approximately 20 billion rubles, then by 2030 this figure is projected to be 50 billion rubles. It should be noted that already now in some critical segments of IT solutions, for example, in the cybersecurity circuit, the share of Russian developments exceeds 75% and is even approaching full import substitution.
