The Pipe Industry Development Fund (FRTP) predicts that in 2022 the export of pipes from Russia will fall by 34%, to 1.06 million tons. This is stated in the presentation of the fund director Alexander Semenchishin, based on data from companies. RBC has a copy of the document, its authenticity was confirmed by the FRTP representative.
Pipe exports are declining due to the complete cessation or decrease in supplies to "unfriendly countries", says the FRTP representative . “In the structure of TMK's order portfolio this year, the share of foreign deliveries is lower than in previous years,” — recognized at TMK.
In mid-March, the European Union, in response to the start of a special military operation in Ukraine, imposed a ban on the import of steel products from Russia, including a wide range of seamless and welded pipes. A week earlier, Dmitry Pumpyansky, the main owner of TMK (he controlled 90.6% of the company through TMK Steel Holding Ltd), fell under EU sanctions. After that, the businessman left the number of beneficiaries and the board of directors of the company.
However, according to the Federal Customs Service, the EU countries were almost not included in the top 10 export destinations Russian pipes in 2021. Their largest consumers abroad at the end of the year were Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Belarus. « The volume of exports of Russian pipes to the EU has traditionally been small for most positions, since anti-dumping duties have been in force there for more than 20 years in relation to Russian seamless pipes, — says the representative of the FRTP. From "unfriendly countries" The United States purchased Russian pipe products most of all: before the start of Russia's special operation in Ukraine, there were no significant trade barriers for Russian pipes in the country. There is still no direct ban on the import of products from Russia into the United States. But, as the FRTP representative clarifies, now Russian suppliers still face difficulties in selling their products to the United States.
will decrease by 2%, to 9.12 million tons. As a result, pipe production will decrease by 5, 5%, to 10.04 million tons
Additional demand for metal in Russia due to the production of large-diameter pipes (LDP) for new oil and gas pipelines may increase by 9-10 million tons, which is comparable to the current volume of consumption of all pipe products in Russia, said Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Viktor Evtukhov at the end of April on the sidelines of the Innoprom forum. The increase in demand in the LDP segment is facilitated by the construction by Gazprom new pipelines, including within the framework of the gasification program, the FRTP representative notes. In the hydrocarbon production segment (casing, tubing and drill pipes), the demand driver is the development of large fields, primarily the new megaproject of Rosneft — «
