"Rosneft" for the first time in Russia began the industrial production of a hydrocracking catalyst. The solemn ceremony of launching the industrial production of hydrocracking catalyst was held as part of the Russian Petrochemical Forum in Ufa. The unique Russian development will increase the production of high-quality Euro-5 motor fuels and significantly reduce the dependence of the Russian oil refining industry on foreign products, which until recently accounted for 90% of the total supply of these products. This is fully consistent with the national task of developing import substitution in the industrial sector of the economy. Production facilities of RN-Kat LLC (part of Rosneft Oil Company) make it possible to provide not only the Company’s enterprises, but the entire Russian oil refining industry with hydrotreatment and hydrocracking catalysts for the stable production of high-quality petroleum products. In general, in Russian oil refining in 2014, the share of domestic catalysts in total consumption was more than 30%, and in 2021 this figure reached 70%.
« Rosneft» - one of the market leaders in the production of catalysts. The current program of the Company's innovative development is aimed at replacing imported technologies in the production of high-quality petroleum products. One of the main objectives of the program is the transition of oil refineries of Rosneft on the use of own-produced catalysts, which avoids the risks of dependence on foreign products. 95% of oil refining processes – catalytic. For this reason, ensuring the reliability of supplies of high-quality catalysts for oil refining processes is a strategic issue for ensuring the technological sustainability of the operation of the entire Company and the Russian oil refining sector as a whole.
Specialists of RN-Kat, a specialized enterprise of NK Rosneft, located in Sterlitamak, made a scientific breakthrough and developed their own technology for the production of hydrocracking catalyst. The new catalyst was successfully tested at the Novokuibyshev Catalyst Plant with the involvement of specialists from the Srednevolzhsky Research Institute for Oil Refining (part of the Rosneft perimeter). Tests have shown that domestic development is not inferior to imported analogues in such key parameters as activity (duration of catalyst operation while maintaining quality characteristics) and selection of target products (an indicator of the volume of the main produced product).
At the end of 2021, RN-Kat specialists produced a catalytic system for the hydrocracking unit « Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim. In the near future, the catalyst will be loaded into the reactor. Laboratory tests have shown high technical characteristics of the catalyst. In the future, it is planned to load hydrocracking units at the rest of the Company's refineries. The need for this catalyst is indicated by the majority of Russian VIOCs.

OOO « ;RN-Kat" - a plant for the production of catalysts with a capacity of up to 4 thousand tons / year in the city of Sterlitamak. A controlling stake in the plant was acquired by Bashneft in June 2019. "RN-Kat" able not only to meet the needs of Rosneft enterprises; in catalysts for hydrotreatment and hydrocracking processes, but also to supply them for commercial sale. Also, the plant's products will replace imported analogues, which will increase the technological stability, independence and economic efficiency of the entire Russian oil refining industry.
