Vasily Osmakov did not support Igor Sechin

The Ministry of Industry and Trade believes that the measures taken by the government to limit the rise in metal prices on the domestic market are showing their effectiveness and should not be further tightened. This is how the ministry responded to Rosneft's proposals impose a ceiling on metal prices and impose export duties. According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, metallurgists, who are already losing 5 million tons of export volumes due to sanctions, are now interested in supplying products to the domestic market under long-term contracts.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade did not support the proposal of the head of Rosneft; Igor Sechin, who in April turned to the government with ideas for regulating metal prices. The oil company faced a rise in prices from suppliers of special equipment, which, in turn, blamed metallurgists for it. "Rosneft" proposed introducing a standard for mandatory deliveries of metal products to the domestic market and a price growth ceiling of 4% per year, as well as export duties on metal and iron ore (see "Kommersant" dated May 16).
In a letter from the First Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Vasily Osmakov dated May 12 to the Ministry of Finance, which Kommersant got acquainted with, it is noted that the Ministry of Industry and Trade considers additional restrictive measures for the export of metal products excessive.
