Petrozavodskmash successfully delivered equipment for nuclear power plants to India
11.05.2022
Petrozavodsk Branch of AEM Technologies JSC (part of the machine-building division of the State Corporation "Rosatom" — Atomenergomash and the Karelian regional branch of SoyuzMash of Russia) manufactured 4 guide vanes for the housings of the main circulation pump units (RCPU) of the power unit No. 5 of the NPP "Kudankulam" (India).
Each guide vane consists of upper and lower discs, between which 13 guide vanes are welded. The device is fixedly installed in the pump housing and is designed to direct the flow of the coolant inside the pump. Petrozavodskmash performed welding work on these devices. Then the assembly units are sent for mechanical processing.
Housing of the RCPU — first class safety product. At a nuclear power plant, it ensures the circulation of the coolant in the primary circuit and operates under a pressure of about 160 atmospheres and at a temperature of 300 degrees. The equipment of the reactor plant of one power unit includes four RCPS.
NPP "Kudankulam" — nuclear power plant with VVER-1000 power units, located in the state of Tamil Nadu in southern India. In June 2017, the Engineering Division of the State Corporation "Rosatom" and the Indian Atomic Energy Corporation signed an agreement on the construction of the third stage of the Kudankulam NPP — these are power units No. 5 and 6.
