Increasingly there are calls for price speculation - now naphtha and LNG

The Union of Plastic Processors (SPP, a lobby of plastics manufacturers) proposed to introduce state regulation of prices for basic raw materials for polymers – naphtha and liquefied natural gas (LNG). The Union wrote a letter to the government with a number of proposals for measures of state support for the plastics processing industry, Vedomosti reviewed the document.

In the letter, SPP indicates that it had previously agreed with Sibur, Russia's largest polymer producer, to stabilize prices for products supplied by direct formula contracts, at the level of February 2022 As a result, the growth in prices for polyethylene and polypropylene from February 24 to April 14 (the date the letter was sent) amounted to 3%, despite the weakening of the ruble against the euro and the dollar by more than 10%. The rise in prices for these polymers in Europe amounted to 15-20%. Vedomosti
