Vladimir Putin meets with metallurgists today

20.04.2022

On April 20, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with the owners of metallurgical companies. As expected, the meeting will focus on the stabilization of prices for metallurgical products, on which, in particular, investment programs in the fuel and energy complex, construction, as well as mechanical engineering, including the production of weapons, seriously depend. In addition, it is expected that we will talk about the work of the industry under sanctions. In March, the EU imposed a ban on the import of Russian steel. Sanctions were imposed against the owners of large Russian metallurgical companies: the shareholder of Severstal; Alexey Mordashov, co-owner of Evraz Roman Abramovich, owner of the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works Viktor Rashnikov, owner of Metalloinvest; Alisher Usmanov, owner of Rusal Oleg Deripaska and others.
At the meeting, the owners of metallurgical companies are planning to discuss the reduction of the tax burden, as well as the refusal to increase the tariffs of Russian Railways. These measures are designed to support the industry in a situation where metal prices in the domestic market are restrained, and the struggle for export markets is aggravated to the limit.
Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said: "This week the president and the government will work on the metallurgical industry."
Putin's major meeting with entrepreneurs took place on February 24.
