Industrial production in China grew by 6.5% in the first quarter of 2022

Gross domestic product (GDP) increased 4.8% in the first quarter from a year earlier, data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed on Monday, beating analysts' expectations of a 4.4% gain and rising from 4.0% in the fourth quarter. A surprisingly strong start in the first two months of the year improved the overall performance, with GDP rising 1.3% qoq in January-March compared to expectations for 0.6% growth and revisiting 1.5% growth in the prior quarter.
China's per capita income rose 6.3%, industrial production — growth by 6.5%, investments in fixed assets — growth by 9.3%, retail sales — growth by 3.3%, oil production — 4.4% growth, gas production — 6.6%. China's GDP growth in 2021 was the highest in ten years, it amounted to 8.1%. At the same time, the authorities expected the economy to grow by 6%. Reuters
