Wind turbine manufacturer Vestas leaves Russia

The Danish manufacturer of wind turbines Vestas is leaving the Russian market due to the situation in Ukraine. The decision was announced at the company's annual meeting, newspaper Dagbladet Borsen writes. At the beginning of March 2022, the company ceased all new business activities in Russia. It was also announced the suspension of four projects for the construction of wind power plants (WPP) in Russia. Vestas' decision means shutting down two plants and refusing to serve customers in Russia.
The company has entered into an agreement with the Finnish energy company Fortum. Fortum is also a customer of Vestas in Russia. The amount of energy generated by Vestas wind turbines, installed in the Russian Federation is more than 1 gigawatt.
Now the company has two plants in Russia: Vestas Manufacturing RUS for the production of composite blades for wind turbines in Ulyanovsk, which began operations in December 2018, and a joint venture with Rosnano ; an enterprise in Dzerzhinsk for the production of nacelles for wind turbines based on the Liebherr plant.
