PJSC LUKOIL started construction of a fixed offshore platform in the Baltic

30.08.2021

Glavgosexpertiza of Russia reviewed the project documentation and engineering survey results for the first stage of the D33 field development, which involves the construction of an offshore fixed platform and linear infrastructure facilities for the production, gathering and transportation of hydrocarbon products. Based on the results of the state examination, a positive conclusion was issued.

The D33 oil field is located 57 km from the coast of the Curonian Spit in the Kaliningrad region. This is the largest LUKOIL field recently discovered on the shelf of the Baltic Sea. Its reserves are about 21 million tons of oil. The start of production is scheduled for 2022-2023. The wells will be drilled from an offshore fixed platform at a depth of about 74 m. The license for the development of a site on the continental shelf of the Russian sector of the Baltic Sea is held by LLC "LUKOIL-Kaliningradmorneft".

The project documentation, which received a positive opinion from the Glavgosexpertiza of Russia, provides for the construction of an offshore fixed platform and linear infrastructure facilities required at the first stage of the development of the D33 field. Projected objects are intended for production, collection, measurement and transport of reservoir oil and gas condensate mixture to the place of preparation of marketable products. The capacity of the offshore platform for oil will be 1.5 million tons per year, for gas – 42,000 cu. m per year, for liquid (condensate) – about 3.24 million tons per year.

There are two construction phases as part of the first stage of development of the D33 field. At the first stage, it is planned to arrange a pile foundation for the installation of the support base of an offshore fixed platform or Block Conductor (BK-1). The sea depth at the location of the production platform BK-1 varies within 73.4-73.5 m.

platforms on the base. At the same time, the support base is expected to be put into operation before the installation of the top structure of the platform in order to carry out advanced well drilling from a jack-up drilling rig, without formation water production.

The second stage also includes construction of linear facilities. For transportation of reservoir (multiphase) production of wells from Block conductor No. 1 to the oil gathering point "Romanovo" a pipeline with a diameter of 406.4 mm and a length of 70.6 km will be laid to the coastline. The length of the onshore section of the pipeline will be 6.4 km. In addition, for power supply and high-speed communication of the offshore production site from the distribution point of the RP 35 kV "Beregovoy" Two lines of 35 kV submarine power cables with an integrated fiber-optic communication cable will be extended to Conductor Block No. 1. The length of the first line – 74.3 km, second – 74.5 km.

The route of linear structures will pass within two large relief structures of the bottom of the Baltic Sea - the Gdansk depression and the Curonian Elevation. Seismic activity of 7 points is noted in the construction area, therefore, additional measures have been developed in the project documentation approved by the experts of the Glavgosexpertiza of Russia to ensure the stability and safety of the offshore platform and other facilities at the D33 field.
