Syzran Oil Refinery has sharply increased the production of marine fuel
28.08.2021
The Syzran Refinery, which is part of the oil refining complex of NK Rosneft, produced more than 67 thousand tons of RMLS 40 marine fuel with a low sulfur content in the first half of 2021. This is 27% more than in the whole of 2020.
The growth in the production of highly environmentally friendly fuel became possible primarily due to the use of a domestic vacuum gas oil hydrotreating catalyst in the production of the RMLS 40 component, made at the enterprise "Rosneft" - «RN-KAT». In addition, the scheme for shipping marine fuel by water was optimized.< /p>
The sulfur content of RMLS 40 does not exceed 0.5%, which fully complies with the requirements of the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL). The use of such fuel when bunkering ships minimizes the negative impact of transport on the environment.
High environmental performance standards are a key element of the Rosneft 2022 strategy. In order to reduce the environmental impact and produce modern environmentally friendly fuels, the Company has initiated and is implementing a number of large-scale projects in the field of modernization of its own production facilities.
The production of environmentally friendly types of marine fuel indicates the high technological capabilities of the Company's refining enterprises. The technology for the production of marine fuels that meet Russian and advanced foreign standards has been developed by the corporate research and development complex of Rosneft Oil Company. The Company's environmentally friendly marine fuel is in demand by domestic and foreign shipowners.
Currently, the Syzran Refinery continues to implement a large-scale program to modernize production facilities in order to further increase the depth of refining, maximize the efficient use of secondary processes to improve light oil yields.
