DTEK Rinat Akhmetov sells coal assets in the Rostov region to the Cypriot structure Valleyton Investments Limited, the nominal owner of which is not known on the market. According to experts, the whole point of owning the Don coal assets for Mr. Akhmetov was the ability to supply coal to Ukraine, with which the companies had difficulties. The companies are not in the best financial position and are burdened with a high debt burden, but the anthracite they produce is in demand in Turkey and the Asia-Pacific countries.

Ukrainian businessman Rinat Akhmetov is selling Don coal assets in Russia. The Federal Antimonopoly Service approved the application of the Cypriot Valleyton Investments Limited to acquire the rights to determine the conditions for the business activities of Donskoy Anthracite JSC, Sulinanthracite LLC; and JSC "Mine Administration" Obukhovskaya ". “The applicant may obtain these rights by acquiring 100% of the shares of another Cypriot company — Fabcell Limited»,— explained “b” in the press service of the FAS. Fabcell Limited — the structure of Rinat Akhmetov's SCM group.

The companies planned for acquisition are engaged in the extraction and sale of anthracite, the regulator said. According to the Cypriot registry, Valleyton is owned by Armenian citizen Elena Hovhannisyan, this name is not widely known on the coal market.

DTEK acquired in 2012 for $39 million 100% of the shares of Obukhovskoye, 100% of the shares of Donskoy Anthracite; and 66.7% of the shares of Sulinanthracite, which was then merged with Donskoy Anthracite. As follows from the Obukhovskaya report, the company received permission to export coal to Ukraine only in March 2020, while quotas for this began to be issued from June 1, 2019. Obtaining a permit made it possible for the mine to get out of idle time. At the end of 2020, revenue decreased by 4.2%, to 9 billion rubles, net profit — by 35.7%, up to 255.5 million rubles. This year the company plans to produce 2 million tons of coal. Revenue of Donskoy Anthracite
