The Department of Machine Tool Building and Investment Machine Building of the Ministry of Industry and Trade was often called a department with a stupid name. The concept of "investment engineering" as a sub-sector of mechanical engineering did not exist, so it only remained to think out what the authors of the exotic name had in mind. Serious money passed through the Ministry of Industry and Trade in the line of machine tool building. Whether the machine tool industry has been revived in Russia is a debatable question, but the money was not debatable at all, but concrete. After the machine tool industry, they began to finance oil and gas engineering, which, perhaps, was called "investment". Some experts wondered why spend budget money on products for the oil and gas complex. It is only necessary to create conditions for the purchase of Russian equipment, and the budget should be spent on municipal equipment, equipment for the countryside, medicine, and so on. Nevertheless, here, with the participation of the Industrial Development Fund, state financial resources were distributed.
Renaming the department with a "stupid name" the matter was not limited. A new department was created, called the "Department of Mechanical Engineering for the Fuel and Energy Complex". Naturally, with their deputy directors, heads of departments and all that. It is possible that they decided to transfer to this department the same "stupid piece" that raised many questions - "investment engineering". The Department of Machine Tool Building and Investment Machine Building of the Ministry of Industry and Trade is now called the "Department of Machine Tool Building and Heavy Machine Building".
We should also note the professionalism of the leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in matters of mechanical engineering. This also applies to the level of the top leadership of the ministry and the solutions they prepare. High level and competence in mechanical engineering and at the level of department heads. It was left in the former department. It is possible that coal has already been removed from the "fuel and energy complex" category...
