Shell preferred for gas processing and sulfur recovery in Uzbekistan
12.08.2020
Surhan Gas Chemical Operating Company and Shell Catalysts & Technologies has signed a technology license agreement for the Mustakillikning 25 yilligi gas project (25 years of independence, М25) in Uzbekistan. As part of this deal, Shell Catalysts & Technologies will offer an integrated technology license for the gas treatment and sulfur recovery unit. Shell. a>
The project in the southern Surkhandarya region of Uzbekistan will annually process five billion cubic meters of raw natural gas, which contains high levels of hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide and mercaptans. The cost-effective removal of these impurities and their safe removal or conversion into commercial by-products is critical to the success of the project. An integrated gas treatment and sulfur recovery unit developed by Shell Catalysts & Technologies, includes several advanced Shell proprietary technologies that provide significant capital and operating cost savings compared to alternatives.
The offering includes the use of Shell's proprietary hybrid solvent technology: Sulfinol. Sulfinol is the market leading mercaptan removal technology, received more than 220 mentions worldwide. Unlike alternative technologies, the sulfinol process removes contaminants, including mercaptans, in a single process step, which can help reduce capital costs by up to 30% in operation. cost by 10–30% and life cycle cost by 15–30%. The Shell Claus off-gas treatment (SCOT®) process will be used to improve sulfur recovery, and the Shell sulfur degassing process will remove hydrogen sulfide from the resulting liquid sulfur. In addition, Shell ADIP ULTRA technology is used in the design of the device to remove carbon dioxide.
The choice of natural gas purification technology is one of the most important design decisions for the M-25 project. Shell – a licensor providing reliable technology, used in acid gas removal plants in gas processing plants around the world. The use of selected licensed technologies optimally meets the objectives of the M-25 project. The agreement with Shell was signed in accordance with the project implementation schedule agreed by the state and investors, and is the next important stage in the implementation of the project with the construction of a gas processing plant.
The M-25 project provides for the exploration and development of natural gas reserves in the Uzbekiston investment block mustaқilligi», including the Mustaқillikning 25 illigi» (M25), with the construction of a gas processing plant with a capacity of 5.0 billion cubic meters per year in the Surkhandarya region of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
