In June, US refineries will receive about nine million barrels of Russian oil — twice as many as in March. Why the USA, even in conditions of overstocked market, cannot do without supplies from Russia —
Record purchase
According to the navigation portals Marinetraffic and Vesselfinder, ten tankers with Russian oil are now approaching the coast of America: eight from Ust-Luga and two from Novorossiysk.
All of them belong to the Aframax class and take on board up to 900 thousand barrels. Thus, by the end of the month the United States will receive up to nine million barrels of our Urals — record for nine years.
Recall that the largest US refineries cannot operate on light oil, mined in West Texas and shale deposits. These facilities are designed for sour grades, so light oil must be mixed with heavy oil, which used to be bought in Venezuela.
But in January last year, Donald Trump imposed sanctions on Caracas. As a result, the export of Venezuelan oil decreased by 32% — up to 1.001 million barrels per day. The lion's share of this volume is purchased by China, and the prospect of a shutdown due to a shortage of raw materials loomed in front of refineries in the Gulf of Mexico and the East Coast of the United States. further RIA Novosti
