Gazprom Neft PJSC launched the first solar power plant in the Omsk Region

24.10.2019

Omsk Oil Refinery (ONPZ) — subsidiary of PJSC "Gazprom Neft" commissioned the region's first solar power plant with a capacity of 1 MW. The pilot station fully provides electricity to the complex of administrative buildings of the ONPZ, including a single household building designed for 2.6 thousand employees. The station is located on an area of 2.5 hectares and consists of 2.5 thousand solar panels manufactured by the Russian company Hevel. A unique investment project for the Russian industry for the introduction of "green" technologies power industry is part of a large-scale development program for the Omsk Oil Refinery, which Gazprom Neft continues since 2008.
The solar power plant will provide the Omsk Oil Refinery with additional generation, which will improve energy efficiency and environmental friendliness through the use of unused areas in the process. Taking into account the insolation of Omsk, the estimated annual output of the station will be 1.2 million kWh. Such a volume is equivalent to burning more than 1.8 thousand tons of coal and will allow avoiding more than 5 thousand tons of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere from the production of coal-fired thermal power plants.

Hevel Group of Companies founded in 2009, is the largest integrated company in Russia in the solar energy industry. The structure of the company includes three divisions: a plant for the production of solar modules in Novocheboksarsk (Chuvash Republic), a development division that designs, builds and operates solar power plants, as well as the Scientific and Technical Center for Thin-Film Technologies in Energy (St. Petersburg), which is the largest specialized scientific organization in Russia in the field of photovoltaics.
In June 2019, as part of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum group of companies «Hevel» and PJSC "Gazprom Neft" signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of solar energy. The creation of a pilot power plant at the Omsk Refinery determines the parameters and timing of the construction of the company's future industrial solar power plants. The station was built in less than six months.
