Operation of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline will begin before the end of 2019

23.10.2019

Construction of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline reached the final stage of testing before putting it into operation. Filling of the first of the two strings of the offshore section of the pipeline with natural gas has begun.
32" gas pipelines comply with "DNV GL Marine Standard for Subsea Piping Systems" and other relevant international standards. The filling of the second string with natural gas will start after the filling of the first string is completed. Filling the gas pipeline system with gas is a significant step towards the start of actual gas supplies to Turkey and Southeast Europe via the new offshore gas pipeline system. According to the schedule, commercial operation of the gas pipeline should begin before the end of 2019.

Reference
The Turkish Stream project involves the construction of a gas pipeline consisting of two strings with a capacity of 15.75 billion cubic meters per year each. The first line is intended for the supply of Russian gas to Turkish consumers, the second — for gas supply to the countries of Southern and South-Eastern Europe. The launch of a bypass gas pipeline will completely eliminate the need for the transit of Russian blue fuel through Ukraine along the Balkan route.
