The Chinese company CNCEC will build a gas chemical complex in the Leningrad Region

LLC "Baltic Chemical Complex" and a subsidiary of China National Chemical Engineering Construction Corporation (CNCEC) signed an agreement on the construction of a gas processing chemical plant in the village of Ust-Luga, Kingisepp District, Leningrad Region. The project is planned to be completed in 5 years. Its budget is estimated at $13.3 billion.
The contract concluded by the parties provides for the construction of two stages of a pyrolysis complex with a capacity of 1.4 million tons of olefins per year each, six lines for the production of polyethylene with a capacity of 480 thousand tons per year, two lines for the production of alpha-olefins with a capacity of 137 thousand tons each, as well as off-site facilities.

The remaining volume of gas (about 20 billion cubic meters) will be sent to the gas transmission system of PJSC Gazprom. These volumes of gas will ensure the filling of Nord Stream 2. At the next stage, it is planned to create an olefins and polyolefins complex, the construction of which will be supervised by RusGazDobycha JSC. The total investment in the project is estimated at 700 billion rubles. The expected revenue of the plant will be more than $4 billion a year.
