Full-scale development of Achimov deposits began in Yamal
15.10.2019
The first horizontal well was commissioned at the Vostochno-Messoyakhskoye field (YaNAO), marking the beginning of full-scale development of the Achimov deposits. The well with a total depth of 3.2 thousand meters gave a gushing flow of oil with a starting flow rate of 435 tons of oil per day. This is approximately eight times higher than the average at Messoyakha. Production at this license area is carried out by the Gazprom Neft joint venture. and "Rosneft" — Messoyakhaneftegaz company.
The drilling of the high-rate Achimov well was preceded by the collection and analysis of a large amount of geological information, pilot work and exploration drilling. Involvement in the development of a significant resource potential of the deep horizons of the continental Arctic — Achimov reserves — became a new stage in the development of the Vostochno-Messoyakhskoye field. The obtained results confirm the correctness of the calculations of the project participants regarding the high prospects for the development of the Achimov reserves, which are estimated by Messoyakhaneftegaz geologists. in 35 million tons of oil, resources — 111 million tons.

The Messoyakha group of deposits includes the Vostochno-Messoyakhsky and Zapadno-Messoyakhsky blocks located on the Gydan Peninsula of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The licenses for both blocks belong to JSC Messoyakhaneftegaz. The start of operation of the Vostochno-Messoyakhskoye field on September 21, 2016 was given by Russian President Vladimir Putin via teleconference. In 2018, the volume of production at the Vostochno-Messoyakhskoye field amounted to 4.5 million tons of oil.
The Achimov reserves belong to the lower level of the Lower Cretaceous deposits located above the Jurassic oil and gas complex. Among the geological complexities — narrow drilling corridor, high temperature in the liner interval, limited choice of process fluid density in the reservoir zone. The deposits are characterized by abnormal reservoir pressure, oil is saturated, with a high gas content, yellow-orange in color, due to the high content of light hydrocarbons. The total recoverable oil reserves of the Achimov formation in Western Siberia are 2.3 billion tons. Of these, half — about 1.2 billion tons — in YNAO. Company "Messoyakhaneftegaz" has high expectations for deposits of this type: exploratory drilling of two wells is in the active phase, electrical and seismic exploration of the Achimov formations continues.
