Plant "ZapSibNeftekhim" launched the production of propylene
26.09.2019
At the Tobolsk industrial site of the SIBUR Group the production of propylene has been adjusted. The new product is needed for the production of polypropylene by polymerization. The first granules of the product were obtained back in March 2019 at the plant of the ZapSibNeftekhim polypropylene complex. Licensor — LyondellBasell, The Netherlands. EP contractor ThyssenKrupp, Germany. The complex of construction and installation works was carried out by Promstroy JSC.
In September 2019, ZapSibNeftekhim received its first propylene from a pyrolysis plant with a capacity of 500 thousand tons of propylene and 1.5 million tons of ethylene per year. The technology makes it possible to produce all types of polypropylene presented in all market segments, including special grades.
The total volume of polypropylene produced at the Tobolsk enterprises of the SIBUR Group after the launch of ZapSibNeftekhim will amount to 1 million tons of polypropylene per year. This is the most powerful production in Russia and one of the largest in the world.
Propylene — raw material for the production of polypropylene. It is used to produce a wide range of polymer products from medical and personal care products to geotextiles, hot water pipes, containers and packaging. Products «ZapSibNeftekhim» will play an important role in the development of non-commodity exports and the replacement of existing imports of polymers mainly from China and Europe, making it possible to replace 85% to 95% of the imported assortment for various products.
Help < br /> «ZapSibNeftekhim»— petrochemical plant of the SIBUR Group under construction in Tobolsk. It has been the largest petrochemical project in Russia since 1991. The project is being implemented as part of a large-scale state program provided for in the state Plan for the development of gas and petrochemistry until 2030.
In May 2019, the completion of construction work and the start of commissioning were announced. In June, the first test batches of products were received. Full capacity is expected in the second half of the year.
