The construction of two icebreakers "Arktika" will cost the Russian budget 100 billion rubles

Construction of the third and fourth serial nuclear-powered icebreakers of the Arktika type will cost 100 billion rubles. This follows from the materials on the public procurement portal.
The Federal State Enterprise of the Nuclear Fleet is holding tenders "for the construction of the third and fourth serial universal nuclear icebreakers of project 22220 for FSUE" Atomflot " ;. The initial cost of the contract – 100.059 billion rubles. Funds from the federal budget and extrabudgetary sources will be allocated for the construction.
One icebreaker must be built no later than December 20, 2024, the second – no later than December 20, 2026, writes RIA Novosti with reference to the materials of the public procurement portal. The results of the tender are scheduled to be summed up on August 6, 2019.
The universal nuclear icebreakers LK-60Ya with a capacity of 60 MW will be the largest and most powerful in the world compared to existing nuclear-powered icebreakers. They are needed to ensure Russian leadership in the Arctic. The length of the vessel will be 173.3 meters, width - 34 meters, displacement - 33.5 thousand tons. These icebreakers will be able to conduct caravans of ships in arctic conditions, breaking through ice up to 3 meters thick. They will ensure the escort of vessels with hydrocarbon raw materials from the fields of the Yamal and Gydan Peninsulas and from the Kara Sea shelf to the markets of the countries of the Asia-Pacific region. At the Baltic Shipyard in St. Petersburg, by order of the state corporation "Rosatom" previously, the lead universal nuclear icebreaker Arktika was built; project 22220, the construction of two serial nuclear-powered ships "Siberia" is underway and "Ural". All vessels have been launched.
