Georgy Poltavchenko was appointed acting Governor of St. Petersburg

By decree of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev, the resignation of the Governor of St. Petersburg Valentina Matvienko was accepted. Georgy Poltavchenko, the plenipotentiary representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Central Federal District, has been appointed acting Governor of St. Petersburg, the Kremlin press service reports.

Georgy Sergeevich Poltavchenko was born on February 23, 1953 in Baku.

In 1976 he graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Aviation Instrumentation , in 1980 - Higher Courses of the KGB of the USSR, in 1994 - St. Petersburg Financial College.
