Gazprom ordered the development of gas liquefaction technology

Gazprom wants to get its own technology for large-tonnage gas liquefaction.

In 2017, the company signed a contract with the Cryogenmash enterprise; (part of the United Machine Building Plants, OMZ holding) to develop a technology for the production of up to 100 tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) per hour (about 0.87 million tons per year), as well as the creation and testing of a pilot plant, according to a corporate magazine "Gazprom".

Together with "Cryogenmash" "Hyprooxygen" will work on the project (includes OMZ), "Gazprom VNIIGaz" and HMS Group, reports the publication.

Engineers have been given three years for research and development work.

It is assumed that the pilot operation of the first installation will begin as early as 2020. ;GazpromВ» He declined to comment.

New equipment will be tested at one of Gazprom's existing industrial sites. or one of its subsidiaries, told Vedomosti OMZ representative.

For testing, it is planned to install a liquefaction line of reduced capacity – about 10 tons per hour (up to 87,000 tons per year).
