"NIPIgazpererabotka" completed the design of the facility "Installation for azeotropic drying and purification of LPG from methanol"

Installation for azeotropic drying and purification of liquefied hydrocarbon gases (LPG) from methanol — SIBUR project, which will be implemented at the company’s existing site in Tobolsk. The design capacity of the new installation will be up to 2.1 million tons per year. The project involves the construction of main and auxiliary technological facilities that will ensure the operation of the new installation. This will allow us to obtain a valuable product of European quality — propane fraction with a methanol content of no more than 50 ppm (0.005 wt.%). Low methanol content is a requirement of many consumers for petrochemical raw materials. The implementation of the project is the next stage in reducing the methanol content in the propane fraction. At the beginning of 2011, at Tobolsk-Neftekhim a purification unit was put into operation, which made it possible to reduce its content to a level below 0.1%. In January 2012, a project was completed to reduce the level of methanol to 0.015% in summer and to 0.035% in winter.

"The project is based on our own patented highly efficient technology for simultaneous purification and drying of the propane fraction. The environmental impact is minimized due to the full use of the flows leaving the plant in the technological processes of the enterprise,” — comments Denis Bychutkin, chief engineer of the NIPIgazpererabotki project.

The project received a positive conclusion from the FAU Glavgosexpertiza of Russia and complies with the requirements of environmental, sanitary and hygienic, fire, industrial and other safety standards in force in the Russian Federation, which will ensure safe operation of the facility for the life and health of people.
