RusHydro has completed a key stage of the power distribution scheme at Artemovskaya CHPP-2

A key technological stage has been successfully completed at the Shkotovskaya CHPP (Artemovskaya CHPP-2) under construction in Primorsky Krai — an open 110 kV switchgear has been energized. Putting the OPU into operation made it possible to transfer the construction site to the status of an operating electrical installation and supply the standard voltage to the transformers for their own needs. This event marks the fundamental transition of the project from the general construction stage to full-scale commissioning of the main and auxiliary equipment of the future thermal power plant.

The infrastructure of the OPU-110 kV consists of 11 cells and is fully equipped with advanced equipment — low-gas column switches and disconnectors. At the same time, the recovery boilers were completed at the site, the assembly of gas turbine and steam turbine installations continues, as well as the construction of cooling towers, water treatment systems, and heat and water supply infrastructure. The project is focused on the use of domestic basic equipment, which guarantees reliable service and eliminates geopolitical risks during operation.

The new plant with a design electrical capacity of 440 MW and a thermal capacity of 456 Gcal/h will replace the outdated coal-fired Artemovskaya CHPP. The transition to modern combined-cycle gas technology and natural gas will increase the electrical efficiency of the power facility to 50-52%, significantly reducing specific fuel consumption. From an environmental point of view, the project completely eliminates emissions of coal ash and sulfur oxides in the region. The commissioning of the Shkotovskaya CHPP, scheduled for 2027, will eliminate the power shortage in the Yuzhno-Primorskiy energy district and ensure the growing traction loads of the Eastern Russian Railways landfill. The project is being implemented by RusHydro as part of the energy development of the Far East.
