Modernization of automated process control systems: Aisors presented an import-independent solution for industrial controllers

Russian developer Aisors has released an update to the Virtual Controller 2.0 software platform, designed to modernize industrial automation systems and reduce the dependence of fuel and energy companies on foreign hardware brands. The product allows you to build flexible, hardware-independent control architectures, which is important when updating the fleet of controllers at continuous cycle facilities and critical information infrastructure (CII). The solution is officially included in the Unified Register of domestic Software and is positioned as an alternative to classic PLCs (programmable logic controllers) of imported production.
In terms of engineering functionality and hardware programming, version 2.0 introduced basic support for the ST (Structured Text) text language, which complemented the FBD (Function Block Diagram) graphic language. When upgrading automation systems, this allows for a combination of approaches: FBD graphics schemes are used to visually configure discrete control and locking circuits of equipment, and the ST text language is used to compactly describe complex technological calculations and sequential algorithms for the operation of units.
To increase the reliability of hardware systems, the key update was the introduction of a hot backup function for technological processes. In this configuration, the main and backup physical equipment (control nodes) operate as a single fault-tolerant system. The process of automatic switching in case of failure of the main node has already been successfully tested on the hardware capacities of equipment supplier partners. Tests have confirmed that the backup unit picks up control without manual operator intervention, eliminating the shutdown of industrial units.
From the point of view of equipment protection and operation, the information security of automated process control systems has been enhanced in release 2.0. The updated logging system logs all hardware configuration changes and personnel actions with timestamp fixation, and the built-in integrity control eliminates the risks of hidden substitution of controller logic. The developers plan to expand the list of supported industrial communication protocols, develop integrated diagnostics of physical devices, and create new libraries of functional blocks for interfacing with peripheral equipment.
