Modernization of Kashirskaya GRES: NTZMK has supplied 13,000 tons of steel structures for new power units

Nizhnetagilsky Metal Structures Plant (NTZMK LLC, part of the NEK Group) is a key partner in the Kashirskaya GRES deep modernization project (PJSC Inter RAO). For the construction of new capacities of the largest energy source in the Moscow region, the company shipped more than 13 thousand tons of high-quality steel structures, the press service of the holding reported.

The scale of the facility and the stages of modernization

The project is being implemented as part of the presidential program for the modernization of thermal power plants (KOMOD). The reconstruction of Kashirskaya GRES, which dates back to 1922, involves the actual construction of a new highly efficient station on the historical site.

According to the work schedule:

• In 2028, it is planned to launch two power units with a capacity of 450 MW each.

• The third 480 MW unit will be commissioned in 2030.

The total output of the renovated plant will reach 6 billion kWh per year, which will provide about a third of the energy consumption of the Moscow region, the region that ranks second in the Russian Federation in terms of power consumption.

The course towards technological sovereignty

The main feature of modernization is the reliance on domestic industrial potential. The design, construction and production of key components (turbines, generators, transformers) is carried out by Russian specialists. The participation of NTZMK in the NEK Group highlights the synergy of Russian production sites in the implementation of strategically important energy facilities for the country.

Socio-economic effect

In addition to strengthening the energy security of the central part of Russia, the project carries a significant social burden. Today, more than 1,000 specialists are involved in the construction site. After the reconstruction is completed, over 500 new jobs will be created at the modern Kashirskaya GRES.
