The Taimyrgormash company is facing the threat of bankruptcy at the Syradasay coal deposit
08.09.2025
The Taimyrgormash company, affiliated with the AEON Corporation and engaged in coal mining at the Syradasayskoye field with reserves of 5.7 billion tons, faced the threat of bankruptcy. The Kryptonium equipment supplier and the Arkhangelsk Commercial Sea Port filed for bankruptcy with the Arbitration Court of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Currently, the field development project may be mothballed, as it is planned to stop financing through loans.
The Taimyrgormash company is engaged in the extraction and transportation of coal from the Syradasayskoye field, located 110 km from the village of Dikson. The project with a total cost of 45 billion rubles includes the construction of a mine, a processing plant and the Yenisei coal terminal. However, in 2024, production decreased, which led to losses and high debts to suppliers.
Working conditions are complicated by the remoteness and harsh climate of the Far North. Sources note that the project is supported only by the income of other northern assets of the corporation, which, however, are "sorely lacking." At the same time, due to the high loan rates, the owner does not plan to take out new loans.
The first stage of the Yenisei terminal has not yet been put into operation — it lacks the necessary infrastructure. The development of the Chaika Bay project continues, but financing and solving environmental issues remain problematic.
Experts believe that bankruptcy is the last stage of debt collection, when creditors try to recover funds through asset sales. In some cases, it is possible to reorganize a company through attracting investments, but negative financial indicators reduce investment attractiveness.
The main problems of Taimyrgormash are the lack of necessary foreign equipment, reduced demand for coal in China, high loan rates and complex logistics along the Northern Sea Route. The project is also affected by the lack of icebreaking vessels for coal export.
