22.07.2025
The United Shipbuilding Corporation became the owner of the production facilities of the Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant. The financial details of the acquisition remain confidential. The transaction was completed on July 17th of this year. The transfer of assets took place within the framework of the corporation&s long-term development concept. The strategy provides for the expansion of internal capabilities for the development and construction of large displacement vessels.
New production tasks of the enterprise
Mikhail Danilenko, the head of KMZ, announced the priorities of the plant&s work after integration. The main focus will be the production of power plants for marine giants. We are talking about oil tankers, liquefied gas carriers and ocean-class dry cargo ships.
The founding rights to the enterprise were transferred to the Marine and Oil and Gas Projects Group. This structure is actively involved in the implementation of state military contracts. The company produces patrol boats for law enforcement agencies and unmanned marine vehicles.
Production development prospects
KMZ will receive the status of a key production base for the production of low-speed high-power engines. Such units are critically important for the construction of a large-tonnage merchant fleet. Low-speed engines are economical and reliable during long ocean voyages.
It is planned to involve a domestic technological ally in the development of the project. The partner has extensive experience in the field of modern mechanical engineering and engineering developments.
The integration of KMZ into the USC structure strengthens the position of Russian shipbuilding in the international market. Own production of propulsion systems reduces dependence on imported supplies. This is especially important in the context of sanctions pressure and the need for technological sovereignty.
The development of internal competencies will allow the corporation to offer customers comprehensive turnkey solutions. From design to complete configuration with modern power plants of our own production.
