Meeting of the Government Commission: New Projects in Electric Power Industry and Support for Domestic Production
30.04.2025

Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak chaired a meeting of the Government Commission dedicated to issues of electric power development. The discussion was attended by delegates from various ministries: the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Federal Antimonopoly Service, as well as top managers of energy corporations and industry unions.
The meeting participants approved the project for the construction of a 150 MW steam power plant on the territory of the Krasnodar TPP. Modern Russian-made equipment for the electric power industry will form the foundation of the new infrastructure. In addition, it is planned to build gas turbine units with a total capacity of 160 MW on the basis of the Dzhubginskaya TPP. These initiatives will strengthen the stability of the energy systems of the southern regions of Russia in a situation of growing demand for electricity. According to the calendar schedule, the power unit of the Dzhubginskaya TPP will begin operating on January 1, 2030. The unit with the steam power plant at the Krasnodar TPP will be launched earlier - July 1, 2028.
The Commission also approved a large-scale program for the construction of generating facilities in the territory of the Eastern IES. The program focuses on renewable energy sources with a total capacity of up to 1,700 MW. A competitive selection of investment projects will be organized to implement these plans. The goal of the program is to meet the growing demand for electricity in the eastern regions by 2030. A separate competitive selection will be held in Primorsky and Khabarovsk Krais. It will determine the contractors for the construction of thermal generation facilities with a total capacity of 445 MW. The Commission supported the strategy of technological sovereignty of Russia. The participants approved the continuation of the project to equip Saratovskaya TPP-2 and Permskaya TPP-14 with innovative domestically produced gas turbines. Specialized equipment for the electric power industry will reduce the industry's dependence on imported technologies.
Experts note: Russian equipment for the electric power industry has made significant progress in recent years. Domestic manufacturers are actively introducing advanced technologies in the field of energy generation. New turbines are characterized by increased efficiency and reduced fuel consumption.
The implementation of the decisions taken will require serious investments. However, the modernization of the energy infrastructure will have a long-term economic effect. The regions will receive reliable energy sources.Consumers - stable power supply. Industry - orders for the production of equipment for the electric power industry.
The government considers the development of the electric power industry as one of the priorities of economic policy. Technological independence in this area is becoming a key factor in national security in modern conditions.
