The Ministry of Transport has begun a large-scale inspection of the Russian tanker fleet.

A large-scale inspection of companies managing the tanker fleet has begun in Russia. The inspection was organized on the instructions of President Vladimir Putin following the incident with ships in the Kerch Strait. Rostransnadzor will conduct a thorough audit of about 500 organizations involved in sea and river transportation of oil and oil products.

The inspection activities will cover all key aspects of the shipping companies' work. Particular attention will be paid to the technical condition of the tankers and the qualifications of the crews. Specialists will assess compliance with safety regulations for the transportation of dangerous goods. The current regulations in the field of oil transportation will be subject to a separate analysis.

The agency will inspect not only large companies, but also small businesses, including individual entrepreneurs. Experts will study the documentation, conduct inspections of ships and assess the security systems. Completion of all inspections of the tanker fleet is planned before the opening of navigation in 2025.
