Lukoil has set a new record in offshore oil and gas contracts, having successfully completed a unique project to build the first multi-lateral well with ten branches in Russia. This event marks an important milestone in the development of oil and gas fields on the country's offshore oil and gas shelf.
The innovative well design made it possible to achieve impressive results: the total length of development in the productive formation was more than 7,700 meters, with 6,600 meters drilled directly into the oil-bearing rock. According to design calculations and test results, daily oil production will be about 400 tons.
Until now, such complex technical solutions in the oil and gas industry were used exclusively in the development of onshore fields. Transferring advanced technologies to the offshore shelf required engineers to solve many complex technical problems associated with the specifics of offshore drilling.
The successful implementation of the project on the Caspian shelf demonstrates the high level of development of Russian technologies in the field of development of oil and gas fields of the oil and gas shelf. This achievement opens up new prospects for the development of domestic oil production and strengthens Russia's position in the global energy market.
Experts emphasize that the use of multi-lateral wells significantly increases the efficiency of field development, reduces the environmental impact on the marine environment and significantly reduces infrastructure costs. Such contracts on the oil and gas shelf are becoming a new standard in the industry, demonstrating the advantages of innovative technologies in modern oil production.
