The first reactor of the Akkuyu NPP was supposed to be launched in the spring of 2025, but now the deadline has been postponed to the end of next year due to the untimely delivery of equipment from Siemens. Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar called the German company Siemens an unreliable supplier. He recalled that many institutions in the country work with Siemens, one of the most important potential suppliers of turbines. But the German company has ceased to be reliable. “How can you trust them? <...> This is a big question mark,” the newspaper Milliyet quotes the minister as saying.
“The biggest mistake made by Siemens is related to reliability. <>How can we trust them? This is a big question mark”, the Turkish minister confirmed.
Alparslan Bayraktar clarified “99% of Siemens equipment will not be used in the implementation of the project”.
“It is already very late, we will use equipment from China”, “ added Alparslan Bayraktar.
