The center for the construction of large-tonnage marine structures will be completed later
30.09.2024
NOVATEK's Arctic LNG 2 project has postponed the completion date for the third train at the Large-Capacity Offshore Structures Construction Center in the Murmansk Region, RBK reports, citing sources. The launch of the line with a capacity of 6.6 million tons of liquefied gas per year was expected in 2026.
According to the publication's sources, it was decided to reduce work at the Large-Capacity Offshore Structures Construction Center "to the minimum necessary." The center will operate in this mode until the end of 2025 - beginning of 2026, after which it will "return to full-scale operations." According to sources, the launch of the third train of the project is postponed until approximately 2028.
The released workers will be redirected to the main LNG production site - the Utrenneye field and the Zvezda shipyard, which is building Arc7 tankers for Arctic LNG 2. The reasons for the change in the construction schedule for the line were difficulties with access to the necessary equipment and a shortage of tankers. Reuters wrote that NOVATEK could reduce the scale of the Arctic LNG 2 project due to sanctions. The head of the company, Leonid Mikhelson, said that the project had already received the main equipment from foreign suppliers. In June, China's Wison New Energies announced its withdrawal from the project.

The project to create the Center for the Construction of Large-Tongue Offshore Structures (CLCOS) was implemented by PJSC NOVATEK in accordance with the Order of the Government of the Russian Federation dated 17.06.2015 No. 1129-r. CLCOS was assigned the status of a strategic investment project, as well as a large-scale investment project of the Murmansk Region.
The project is being implemented in the village of Belokamenka, Murmansk Region. The Center is a key facility for the LNG equipment manufacturing industry being created in Russia: its site is used for the production of gravity-based structures (GBS), integration of LNG equipment, construction of large-sized modules and production of liquefaction lines on GBS. More than 100 Russian manufacturers are involved in the construction of the CSKMS. Some of their high-tech products were created specifically for the Project and have no analogues in the Russian Federation.
The Center for the Construction of Large-Tongue Offshore Structures is a key element of the LNG equipment manufacturing industry being created in Russia: its site is used for the production of gravity-based structures (GBS), assembly of large-sized modules, including integration of process equipment, preparation of ready-made complete natural gas liquefaction lines for transportation by sea to the place of their operation.
